Route notes · Instrumental to vocal draft

Bring the track. Direct the performance.

Start with an instrumental you have permission to use. The tool follows your vocal direction to generate a new sung performance over that track.

  1. 01

    Upload an instrumental

Choose an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, or WebM file up to 25 MB. A clean instrumental gives the generated vocal the clearest musical reference.

  2. 02

    Describe the vocal

Name the language, vocal character, theme, delivery, and energy. Keep the direction focused so the performance has one clear job.

  3. 03

    Generate, listen, revise

Create a vocal draft, check the timing, diction, and balance against the instrumental, then change one part of the direction for the next version.

Four starting points · One instrumental first

When the track arrives before the singer

Use one instrumental as the anchor, then compare vocal directions without treating an AI draft as a finished recording.

Beatmakers

Test where a vocal fits the beat

Try a restrained verse, a wider chorus, or a rhythmic hook over the same beat before deciding which section needs more space.

Songwriters

Hear a song idea before the final take

Describe the theme, language, and delivery to hear how a vocal concept sits against an instrumental draft.

Creator music

Draft a hook for an intro or short video

Explore a concise sung theme over music you may use, then review the words, timing, and license before publishing.

Producers

Compare vocal moods on one arrangement

Use the same source instrumental to compare a warmer, brighter, softer, or more urgent performance, then check how each generated version changed the backing track.

Add Vocals questions

What the tool generates, what input it accepts, and which decisions still belong to you.

What does Add Vocals do?

It generates a new AI vocal performance over the instrumental you upload. You describe the vocal direction and song idea; the result is a draft built around that track. It does not record you or clone your voice.

Which audio files can I upload?

You can upload MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, or WebM audio up to 25 MB. Use an instrumental you have permission to upload and avoid a file that already contains a lead vocal.

Is Add Vocals free?

No. Anyone can explore the page, but generation requires sign-in and an active Pro or Ultra plan. Pro uses 100 credits per run; Ultra includes each run at 0 credits.

Can I provide exact lyrics?

The current Add Vocals tool takes a vocal direction rather than a dedicated line-by-line lyrics field. If exact lyrics must be preserved, use the written-lyrics mode on the homepage to create a new song instead.

Can I use the generated vocal commercially?

Commercial use depends on the license terms for your current plan and export. You must also have the right to upload and use the instrumental. Review the applicable terms before releasing or monetizing the result.

Will Add Vocals keep my original instrumental unchanged?

Not necessarily. Add Vocals uses the uploaded instrumental to generate a new version; it does not promise a bit-for-bit unchanged backing track. The arrangement, timing, or texture may shift. Keep the original file. If exact preservation matters, compare the output, separate the generated vocal, and align or mix it with the original in a DAW.
